Humanitarian radio in Gaza and West Bank
Reliable information when it matters most
RadioInsan broadcasts vital educational content and critical information, serving children and marginalised families through trusted, community-focused programming.
By combining humanitarian expertise with local voices, the station helps families stay informed, safer, and connected.
Radio Insan provides clear, reliable information to help people make safer decisions during crisis.
When access to services, internet, and movement is restricted, information becomes a critical lifeline. The station broadcasts updates about humanitarian services, safety guidance, and community resources, while creating space for local voices and community-centered programming.
Our aim is to strengthen communication with humanitarian responders so people can better access support and navigate rapidly changing conditions.
The station prioritizes groups most at risk during the current crisis:
- Children
- People with disabilities
- Women and carers
- Older people

Why radio?
Radio remains one of the most effective ways for communities to access critical information.
In Gaza, we experience limited or unreliable internet connectivity. FM radio allows information to reach households quickly and consistently.
Radio
- works without stable internet
- reaches displaced communities
- helps counter misinformation
- connects local communities and humanitarian responders
- supports mental health through cultural and community programming
How the project began
Radio Insan grew out of a conversation in 2023 between media-for-development professionals Sabe, Mike and Rob about providing better access to advice and information designed especially for children and families most affected by conflict in Gaza. Gaza Humanitarian Radio was developed to address the growing communication gaps affecting civilians during the conflict in Gaza.
Around the same time, Humanitarian organisations recognised the absence of reliable information could increase risk, confusion, and vulnerability. This initiative brings together humanitarian and media partners to create a dedicated radio platform designed specifically for Gaza.
The station initially broadcasts from the West Bank using directional transmission to reach Gaza, with plans to relocate infrastructure into Gaza when security conditions allow.
Content production prioritizes local contributors, ensuring the station reflects the voices and needs of affected communities.
